Always wanted to know more about Stanislavsky but can't face those books!

We are now offering a one day workshop-led by Elizabeth Moynihan who is an actress and writer
Her feature film ‘A life Out Loud’ was co-adapted by Director Marion Comer and is currently in pre production.
Her play ‘I want to know’ was performed at the Abbey Theatre ( Ireland’s National Theatre) as part of the Anti-FGM campaign

The course covers:-

  • Evolution of Stanislavski
  • The Classic Stano Warm -Up
  • Basic Stanno exercises
  • Logger heads and the art of improv.
  • Justification of an action
  • Room Re-Call
  • Portrait
  • Moment before
  • Inner monologues
  • Building a character
  • Hot seating

If booking:
Please bring the following: A note book and pen. A scene from any Ibsen,Checkov or Strindberg. As well as a contemporary piece.Two copies of each. One for the actor and one for their scene partner. Please choose scenes with no more than two characters. That is where we will get to exemplify the Stano System.

Advanced Acting for Camera

ADVANCED ACTING FOR CAMERA

The course is aimed at those who have training and experience in Acting- but need experience with Film Acting

The course covers:

  • Camera angles for the one camera and 3 camera set up
  • Eye lines-self taping etc and we work towards students feeling comfortable in front of camera

The details are below:-
The Advanced Acting for Camera Course takes place in July. It will be an intensive 4 Day course and focusing solely on film and TV scene work.
There will be a Masterclass with Film Director/Writer Terry McMahon (Patrick's Day-Charlie Casanova and regular writer for Red Rock) on film and the Art of Acting for Film. His class will be based on practical exercises for camera and playback based.

There will also be a Masterclass with a guest Writer/Actor from Fair City who will work on Acting techniques and script analysis for T.V. Soaps and the approaches an actor takes to bring a soap character to life. Having been both an Actress and currently one of the Principle writes from FAIR CITY for several years Hilary Reynolds will analyse the subtle techniques needed to master the development of Soap characterisation.

Among other topics that Gillian Reynolds Casting will focus on:
* acting for film-tv v/s soaps- the differences between one camera acting and 3 camera acting
* framing and blocking for camera
* the hidden subtext within the scene
* the importance of continuity within a scene
* the creative use of props
* eye-lines
* communicating emotions and thoughts without recourse to dialogue
* acting in TV sit-coms

In advance, you will be given an assortment of film script extracts to work on, with actors then working together in pairs. These scenes will be filmed and then analysed by the class.
We will devote the last day for actors in group scenes, which will be filmed for instant replay and analysis.

Time: 10a.m. to 5p.m. daily
Venue: The Central Hotel, Exchequer Street, Dublin
The cost will be €240, and places will be limited to 12.
